Geneva Basin Ski area
Day 31- Geneva Basin is an old abandoned ski area off off of Hwy 285 on Guanella Pass. After work on Friday night we snowshoed up to an old ski lodge at the top of the hill. The hike up was fairly tough and was made even tougher by the fact it was after dark and Dutch was having issues with his diabetes on the way up. There were a few times I was really worried about how we were going to make it to the top. Nevertheless, we made it safe and sound up to the hut. There were about 10 guys crammed in this little hut that was heated by a wood stove. After a night of not much sleep we woke up early the next morning to get after it. A few hundred feet down from the cabin, we built a good-sized kicker and spent the morning hiking the kicker and trying every trick we had in our bag, since the landing was pillow-soft powder. I used this day to try my first backflip and 540, and a couple of other combos. I landed a couple tricks but mostly ended up taking a big slam in the powder ... and it never hurt once. After a few hours of doing this and probably 15-20 jumps, we loaded up all of our stuff and headed back down the hill. It was pretty cool riding untouched powder all the way down the hill but it was a little tough with the heavy pack on my back. All-in-all it was an awesome, awesome weekend. (logged 2011-03-26)

Geneva Basin Ski area
Came down a different route this time... had a lot less trees, easy to navigate. However, the snow was super sugar submarine snow. Even on a snowboard, I was sinking down pretty good. But still a lot of fun. YAY SNOW! (logged 2010-01-01)

Geneva Basin Ski area
Nice easy skin up on fire road/old ski trail. Needs more snow, the way we went down had too many little trees that need to be covered more so it's not so dense. (logged 2009-12-27)
