Closing day and a suprising storm. Rode like winter today and as the mountain was empty we hit up some of the runs we usually avoid...Buddys top to bottom was effortless and wind loaded bumps skiers left were faceshottastic! Took a last run down Dave's and it made me sad, its funny how it hits you. I miss you so much Captain. Twilight was bottomless and droping into the lower section over a windlip was most excellent. Final run of the season on day 47 was a fast and still powder filled trip to the bottom via the Daze and Vogue...the right hand side of Vogue still untracked and lunchtime :) My bindings held out, and now its time to think MB and keep Mr T off the gnarly stuff :) (logged 2011-04-10)

You know its closing weekend when...Even 10am is too early for soft snow. Tornado Lane rides better than Cyclone. You enjoy riding Ego Basin because the snow is soft and there's no one else there. You see bear paw prints in the snow that appeared after it softened like 10 mins ago  You are glad you wore your spring jacket because its hot and sunny. You regret wearing your spring jacket because its dumping with snow. You can't wait until Thanksgiving and the snow starts flying again! (logged 2011-04-09)

So we started the day with our fave patroller in the gondy and Scott a dentist from Thornton. Scott asked if he could tag along for a bit as it was his first visit to The Boat and we were more than happy to oblige and show off our mountain. What a mountain it was! 8.5 inches up top and not that creamy spring pow, but not quite dry winter pow. Mr T describes it as "chalky pow". It was bloody excellent pow...FACT. Best run of the day was Twistercane...that was winter pow and lots of it. FACT. (logged 2011-03-26)

Day after the storm. Bluebird skies and soft powder to play in. Dave's was really sweet as was Twilight. spent a lot of time messing around on Pony. Lots of deep powder left overs and Outlaw was super soft bumps and pow at the edges. Tired legs from all the hiking yesterday decided to take it easy and just have fun in the sun! (logged 2011-03-18)

Woke up to a 5am “snow sliding of the roof thud” snow alarm…hard to believe after going to bed with clear skies. Had the man from Switzerland with us today and it was dumping. Hit the Gondy at 8.30 and hardly anyone around. Fantastic Pow down Hurricane, Cyclone and Nelsons. Closets was super lush, then a leg break before hiking. Lots of hiking. Riding mini slides down Wake Up Call and not making the wind lip was hysterically funny, as was my nose dive at the bottom of Second Pitch, Patricks epic backslide on North St Pats and me wallowing in a tree well after getting to cocky on the Pod Racing circuit. Long day of creamy powder and as a result shattered! Oh, and its still snowing! (logged 2011-03-17)

So today rode like full on spring. It always amuses me how resort talk sells boiler plate as " firm carveable snow" I can honestly say I stuck to one edge all the way down Three O'Clock in fear I would not find one again if I switched :) Grim. Arguably we were out 2 hours to early for spring, but the teenragers had people to meet, who obviously enjoy hard pack :) Finally it softened and rode nicely for about an hour or so before it slushed up. Looks like winter will be back tomorrow...can't wait. (logged 2011-03-16)

Winter was back this morning..cold and new snow overnight. The valley was filled with mist which crept up the mountain as the temperatures rose. Storm North was lush as was Cyclone. Sun came out and it was Spring again. Best fun ever up on North St Pats and Second Pitch with my girlies. Best run of the day was Pod Racing on last chance (may the force be with you) worst run Flying Z...yuk! Shame its the only way out from Pod Racing. (logged 2011-03-15)

Ahhh you can tell its spring break, the smell of moth balls hanging in the air, the most amazing Gaper Gear outside of Europe and the return of the high speed power wedge. Luckily no one of this appears until after 11am so at least the first couple of hours on the mountain are rideable. Snow conditions early ranged from super soft groomers up high to boiler plate lower down. All the hike to stuff was fantastic, especially Second Pitch…A day of two halves for sure, fast groomers early and soft powdery bumps on the steeps later in the day. Sweet. (logged 2011-03-14)
